His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, fulfilled Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s divine prophecy — that the holy name of Krishna would resound in every town and village of the world.
Inspired by this mission, the devotees of ISKCON Ahmedabad carry the transcendental sound of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra to every street and neighbourhood of this great city. Every week, a joyful procession of devotees moves through Ahmedabad’s neighbourhoods — chanting, dancing, and freely distributing the mercy of the holy name to all who hear.

The Purpose of Harinam
The Ahmedabad City Harinam Sankirtana is meant to give every soul in this city — regardless of background, caste, or creed — a chance to hear and chant the Hare Krishna maha-mantra and experience the transcendental bliss of bhakti. The holy name is non-different from the Supreme Lord Himself. Simply by sincerely chanting, one can awaken love of God and return to the spiritual world in this very life.
Glory to the Sri Krishna sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon.
