International Society for Krishna Consciousness
About ISKCON
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), popularly known as the Hare Krishna Movement, was founded in 1966 in New York by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Rooted in the ancient Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, ISKCON shares the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam to inspire spiritual awakening, inner peace, and a life of devotion to Lord Sri Krishna.
In a fast-paced and constantly changing world, ISKCON offers practical spiritual wisdom that helps people discover purpose, clarity, meaningful relationships, and lasting happiness through the practice of bhakti-yoga.
Today, ISKCON is a global spiritual family with hundreds of temples, communities, educational initiatives, cultural programs, and humanitarian projects serving millions of people across the world.

The Founder
The Journey of Srila Prabhupada
In 1965, at the age of 69, Srila Prabhupada travelled alone from India to America aboard the cargo ship Jaladuta, carrying only a few books and an extraordinary spiritual mission.
Within a few years, his efforts inspired a worldwide spiritual movement that continues to transform lives across continents through kirtan, spiritual philosophy, devotional culture, prasadam distribution, and spiritual education.
